Introducing DAK's Bark & Splash Dock Diving

New Water Fun For Your Dog

Dock diving is a new and exciting dog sport taking the country by storm, and DAK's Bark & Splash dock diving pool is the first in North Alabama. Our facility is the first to offer training and open rental of a dog pool for dock diving, rehabilitation and swimming. Your dog's breed or size doesn't matter! If dock diving does not interest you or your dog, swimming is also an option.

DAK's 41' L x 21' W x 4' D pool and 36' dock provides plenty of room for your dog to exercise! Our facility features a pool designed specifically for dogs and their owners. It utilizes an advanced filtration system, combined with specialized minerals, in order to provide a clean swimming experience. Our pool is also equipped with ramps for easy access in and out of the pool, as well as a dock similar to those used in official dock diving competitions.

Your best friend can get the therapy needed after surgery, for weight issues or arthritis, as well as the training and practice they need to get an edge on the competition, or just to have fun with their owner in a safe and clean environment!

Hurry and book your pool time soon, we are filling quick!

FAQS

Here are answers to some common questions

  • 1) What are the age and breed requirements to begin dock diving?

Yes! Once you have registered and paid for your first training class with us, you can request to join the DAK's Dog Ranch Training Club facebook group where we post training tips, techniques and success stories!

  • 2) What size is your pool?

The dock diving pool is 41'L x 21'W x 4'D. The dock is 36' long.

  • 3) Is your pool heated and open all year long?

No, our pool is not heated. Weather permitting, the pool will be open while the weather is warm. We will announce when the dock diving season is over.

  • 4) Does your pool contain chlorine or salt water?

Our pool is maintained by an ionizer connected directly to the filter system. Pool ionizers are supplemental disinfecting systems that fight off bacteria and algae using copper and silver ions. We only have to add two tablespoons of chlorine per 25,000 gallons of water per week.

  • 5) What should I bring with me to dock diving training / therapy?

You should bring your swim suit (if you plan to swim) and a change of clothes, shoes for the dock / pool area, towels (for you and your dog(s)), refreshments (no alcohol or glass bottles), your dog's favorite toy and, of course, your dog.

  • 6) Do I have to be there with my dog?

Yes. You, the handler, must be on the premises and in the pool area when your dog(s) are swimming.

  • 7) Do you offer dock diving training?

Absolutely! If you just want to try it out, you are welcome to book the pool by the hour. We do offer seasonal poor cards, call us for more information!

  • 8) What kind of therapy / rehab do you offer?

We offer water rehabilitation for dogs in accordance with your veterinarian's recommendation.

  • 9) Are children allowed?

There can only be two (2) handlers per dog (one handler can be a child at least 16 years of age or older, the second handler must be an adult guardian 18 years of age or older). All adult handlers must be at least five (5) feet tall OR approved by the DDR owner for insurance purposes.

  • 10) Does my dog need a life vest? Do you provide life vests?

As your dog is showing complete confidence without a life vest in the pool, the DDR owner can approve swimming without the vest. Yes, we do provide life vests for dogs.

  • 11) Can we bring our own refreshments?

Yes. We do not provide refreshments and encourage you to bring your own to stay hydrated. Alcoholic drinks and glass containers are strictly prohibited.

  • 12) Can I have a canine or kid pool party?

We do not offer canine and/or child pool parties. Each pool session is one hour per family.

  • 13) Do you allow other pets besides dogs?

No. The pool is only for dogs and their handlers.

  • 14) Do I have to be in the pool with my dog(s)

Based on the dog's swimming experience, the handler does not have to be in the water for dock diving, but must be at the pool deck area during the entire session. For rehabilitation therapy, a person must be in the water to help support the dog during swimming.

An adult must be in the pool area with the dog. If you would prefer not to swim with your dog, please let us know when you book your session.

  • 15) Does my dog need previous training to participate in dock diving?

We encourage all dogs to have at least basic obedience training, however, it is not required to participate in dock diving. We cannot allow human aggressive dogs to swim in our pool.

  • 16) How much is a swimming session, when do I pay and what is your cancellation policy?

All non-human aggressive dogs are welcome despite their size or breed. Each swim session is $30 per hour for the first dog and $20 for each additional dog per family.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO MAKE YOUR SESSION please contact DDR by phone or text (256-321-0566) or by email (daksdogranch@gmail.com) or by Facebook Messenger. All cancellations made within 24 hours of the booked pool time will be charged in full.

We understand that things come up, but please understand that we kept this spot open for you and your pup.

  • 17) Do you have pool rules?

Yes we do. When you arrive for your booked swim session, we will provide the pool rules and a liability waiver which MUST be signed before anyone can swim.
